The journey then takes you to Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram), a historic Pallava port town renowned for its spectacular Shore Temple, rock-cut shrines, massive stone sculptures, and intricate carvings depicting Hindu mythology. Proceed to Tanjore (Thanjavur), an important center of South Indian art, music, dance, and heritage, where the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple stands as a masterpiece of Chola architecture and devotion. * Arrive into Chennai.
* Welcome to South India Temple Tour.
* On arrival in Chennai you will be met and transferred by our representative to hotel.
City tour of Chennai
* Visit Fort St. George, San Thome Catheral and museum to see the Art and Bronze Gallery.
(Closed on Friday and Public holidays).
* High court, Marina Beach, San Thome Cathedral and Snake Park.
Overnight: Hotel
* The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara , Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks.
* Later drive to Mamallapooram.
* Afternoon visit the city - built in 7th century, earlier called Mahabalipooram, this ancient Pallava port, is today the sight of several antique sculptural marvels.
* In this ancient seaside town , shrines and huge sculptures cut-out of rocks more than 1200 years back during the reign of Pallava Kings in the region can be seen.
* The rock carvings depicting mythological episodes - of demons, Gods and animals in battle and others - are truly poems in stone.
* The only shore temple which remains here is the spectacular two - spired shrine, unique because it houses both Lord Shiva and the Lord Vishnu in its sanctum-sanctorum.

* Pondicherry's main sights are the Rai Nivas, The Sacred Heart Church and the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Sri Aurobindo Ashram, the city of dawn, which is 10kms north of Pondicherry.

* Tanjore (Thanjavur) is famous for Carnatic music, musical instruments, dance and traditional hadicrafts and the Brahadeeswarar Temple.
* The temple constructed more than a thousand years ago by the Chola King Raja Rajan is an architect's marvel.
* After visiting Tanjore drive to Trichy and upon arrival check into the hotel

* The attraction is not for fort itself but the temple at the summit. 344 steps hewn out of rock lead to the top where are the inscriptions dating back to the 3rd century B.C.

* The city got its name from the drops of nectar (Mathuram) that fell from Shiva's locs when he came to bless its people for constructing a temple for him.
* Madurai where the people wake up at the chant of hymns is proud of magnificent The Meenakshi-Sundareswara Temple.
* After visiting Madurai drive to Madras and on arrival, check into the hotel
