Amarnath Yatra
Amarnath Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimages in India, dedicated to Lord Shiva and the sacred Baba Barfani. Nestled high in the breathtaking Himalayas of Jammu & Kashmir, the holy Amarnath Cave holds immense spiritual significance and is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva narrated the secret of immortality to Goddess Parvati. The journey to the sacred cave takes devotees through spectacular mountain landscapes, serene valleys and scenic Himalayan trails, creating a perfect blend of faith, devotion and adventure. Pilgrims can undertake the Yatra through the traditional Pahalgam route or the shorter Baltal route, with trekking, pony services and helicopter options available subject to official arrangements. More than just a pilgrimage, Amarnath Yatra is a soulful journey that brings devotees closer to Lord Shiva while offering an unforgettable experience amidst the majestic Himalayas. Har Har Mahadev!
Itinerary
* Arrive into Srinagar
* Welcome to Neelam's "Sri Amarnath Yatra"!
* You will be met at Srinagar airport/hotel and transferred to Pahalgam by Neelam's representative.
* On arrival in Pahalgam transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
* Pahalgam: Situated at the convergence of the Lidder Lake and the Sheshnag Lake. At a height of 2,130 m, Pahalgam hill station is a spectacular sight.
* At one point of time, the hill station used to serve as the village of shepherds.
* This beautiful hill station dates back to the medieval period. Ruled by the Mughals at one point of time, it later came under the reign of the local Hindu kings as a part of the Kashmir kingdom.
* Overnight: Hotel
* Chandanwari (2896 Mts.) is a small shut off valley at the junction of Sheshnag stream and the stream for Astanmarg.
* On arrive check into your tent.
* Overnight: Tent
* The trial climbs the Pisu Ghati and then climbs gradually to the Sheshnag Lake.
* Sheshnag is one of the windiest places in this valley.
* Overnight: Tent
* The walk is through Mahagunas Pass (3200 Mts.) and then a gradual walk to Panchtarani.
* Overnight: Tent
* Amarnath is only 6 kms away from Panctarani. Have a dip in the ice cold water of Amarnath stream, which flows outside the cave.
* Inside the cave there is scenery of calm tranquillity of white and glistering three massive Lingmas stand erect symbol of Lord Shiva, Parvathi and Ganesh.
* Trek back towards Sheshnag. It is a descending walk till Sheshnag.
* The night will be spent in the tents.
* Overnight: Tent
* On arrival in Pahalgam drive to Srinagar.
* Upon arrival transfer to the House boat for an overnight stay.
* Overnight: Houseboat
* Return to the hotel for breakfast and later in the afternoon visit Moghul Gardens.
* Relax for the remaining part of the day.
* Mughal Gardens: Visit the Mughal Gardens, the Chashme Shahi (Royal Spring), Nishat Bagh (Pleasure Garden) and Shalimar Bagh (The Abode of Love).
* Shankaracharya Temple: 5 km from Tourist Reception Center. Located on a hill one thousand feet above the city, it is also known as Takht-i-Sulaiman. Most authorities agree that the first edifice on this site was built by Jaluka, the son of Emperor Ashoka, around 200 BC. The low enclosing wall and the plinth of the existing temple is what has remained of the old temple. The philosopher sage Shankaracharya had stayed at this site when he had visited to Kashmir ten centuries ago to revive Sanatan Dharma.
* The present structure is said to have been built by an unknown Hindu devotee during the reign of Emperor Jehangir.
* The temple offers a magnificent view of the valley and the snowy peaks of the Pir Panjal range.
